Once you have created a prototype, take it to a very reputable law firm. If you are going to spend money on anything, it is best spent on a good Patent Attorney.

After creating the prototype, the next step is to Trade Mark the name of your product. Your Patent Attorney will do it for you, ro provide a web address for you to complete. I did 2 trademark applications on-line here.

You will need to investigate the materials needed for best performance for your product (i.e.: plastic, wood, or whatever you need to produce the product). Then learn more and more about materials, hardware, and cloth materials best suited for your product. For instance, I looked at materials which were good with sun, salt air, wind, and water.

Once you have prototypes attend Trade Shows. This allows you to exhibit your new product and get feedback from the hundreds of buyers and consumers. Be sure to have plenty of colorful fliers, pricing sheets, and business cards!

Building a company and product from scratch, figuring out how to manufacturer overseas in a factory you have never seen in a county you’ve never been, learn the entire freight forwarding system, scheduling ships to pick up your manufactured goods and somehow get those goods from the dock to your warehouses, figuring out harmonized tariff code numbers, UCC bar code assignments, rules, regulations with US customs, creating custom invoices, beneficiary statements, knowing how to read a BOL ( Bill of Laden), accurately complete several purchase orders, finding warehouses across the country and securing agreements with them, keeping track of inventory, figuring out what price to charge wholesale, what price for retail, building an entire filing system with hundreds of folders, learning how to use an accounting system such as Quick Books on the computer, designing the fabric prints for the actual product and landing appointments with buyers that never heard of you...it goes on and on. Since what I have mentioned above is just a fraction of what goes on, you can see how it would cause a bit of tension and frustration, even with a fabulous positive attitude.

I have learned through my experiences that listening, learning and understanding those who have gone before us often have the wisdom to help. To learn more on how your own energy, power and purpose can inspire please click here.
